Ferret Book and Product Recommendations

Ferret Books

   Ferrets for Dummies
This book is excellent for seasoned ferret owners as well as new ferret owners.  It is 370 pages long and filled with information about ferret nutrition, illnesses, behavior, training tips, grieving for the loss of your ferret, ferret legalization, ferret proofing, ferret grooming, recipes for home made ferret food, ferret breeding and much more.  I ordered the book recently after hearing rave reviews about it from a local ferret club and I was not disappointed.  I would recommend this book to every ferret owner.  It  really is a complete guide to ferret care with many extras.

The Ferret : An Owner's Guide to a Happy...
This is a wonderful (and inexpensive) hard back book for seasoned ferret owners as well as new ferret owners (I own it myself).  It is packed with color photographs and contains information on ferret history, ferret proofing, ferret nutrition, ferret illnesses, ferret behavior, ferret training, grooming and much more.  It is a shorter book, 125 pages, however it offers valuable information.  It makes a wonderful addition to any ferret library and contains all of the basic information a ferret owner would need.

Ferrets : Health, Husbandry, and DiseasesFerrets: Health, Husbandry and Diseases
(no photo available)

This is an excellent book for veterinarians, people working in the veterinary field, shelter owners, breeders and the serious ferret owner (I own this one as well).  It was written by a veterinarian from the UK and it offers a unique perspective on health, breeding and diseases of the ferret.  It is written in technical language with many medical terms, so it may be difficult for some to understand.  However, if you want further knowledge of the biology and diseases of the ferret, this is an excellent choice.  This book also contains a nutrition chart,  tables with information about  medication dosages and administration and detailed descriptions of surgical procedures and ferret diagnostics.  It is a paper back book and is 198 pages long, including the index.
